Replacement level is the fantasy-point total of the first player at
a position who would not be a starter league-wide (teams ×
slots). A multi-position player is valued at whichever eligible spot
he clears replacement by the most, because that is the slot he
actually fills, which is the larger part of multi-position value.
A second position pays only on nights when his own slot is already
full, no Util is free, and the other position has an opening. In a
shallow league that rarely lines up, so the premium is near zero;
it becomes real in deep leagues.
Opportunity: the model's projected ice time over 84 games, minus games missed to injury when Injuries is on (CBS Sports NHL injury report, as of its latest pull). Turn it off to give every player a full 84 games. Nobody is pre-scratched for a depth-chart call.
